Welcome to the Sixties Mix website and thanks for logging in.
Pleased to report that both Brian and John are now back with the band after illness. Thanks to Terry, Dave and Johnny for the great and much appreciated show put on during the absence of Brian and John. Not forgetting a cameo appearance by Biff.
Once again thanks to John for the latest photos of the band with Dave returning to us. Great photos John-perhaps a bit too life like!!
After Biff’s retirement, we are pleased to welcome Dave back to the band. Dave was an original member of Sixties Mix and has stood in for Biff on a number of occasions over the years.
Our bass player Biff announced his retirement from the band on Saturday 15th January 2022. Biff has been with us for 12 years and has become a very popular character with the Saturday Altofts crowd and at numerous other venues the band have played over the years.
Biff will be missed by the band, and all of the Altofts audience as was seen by the wonderful ovation he received during and at the end of the concert. We all thank him for his huge contribution to the band as a member and friend and wish him and Elaine, good health in his retirement.
How great to see so many of you back at Altofts with us on October 9th. After being away for so long we were a little nervous about re-starting but a massive thankyou from the four of us for your renewed support.
The concert/dance was once again a great success. Thanks to the organisers, Joan, Sandra, Robin and the gang for their tireless efforts. Thanks to the staff of Roundhill Club and of course thanks to all who attended, also those who contributed but could not attend on the night. The concert was in aid of Macmillan Nurses. The total raised at the moment stands at £1900+ which is in itself a fantastic amount, but this is expected to rise. We will give the final figure when we have it. Thanks again to all.
Thanks to Roundhill WMC for inviting us to play for their members’ special celebration-the 50th anniversary of the opening of the new club. Congratulations to the club on achieving this milestone.
Thanks to John and his son Harvey for the photos taken at our recent November concert. John, Harvey and his family are regulars in the Saturday night audience. All three photos can be found on ‘Picture Gallery’.
Are you interested in local club land bands from the past? Google ‘Roll Back the Years’ to remember local bands like ‘The Whales’ ‘Sammy King and The Voltaires’ etc and many others.
Once again our thanks to Trevor Tunnicliffe (Mr T) for his complementary review of our recent concert at Crigglestone in his regular clubland blog. www.mrtreviews.weebly.com
